A stunning Rainbow butterfly!

This beautiful Rainbow Butterfly is made using a different process to most of my other items, making it much thicker.

Firstly Iridescent glass is added on top of clear and coloured glass. The butterfly body is made from black iridescent tiny pieces of glass. All the glass is layered into a mould and heated to 804 degrees Celsius, which fuses the pieces of glass together. Once cool, the butterfly is cold worked – removing any sharp bits – and then it is placed back in the kiln for another fusing to soften the edges.

If you’d like different colours on your butterfly, please leave a note at checkout.

The Butterfly can be placed inside or outside and is totally weatherproof and won’t fade in the sun. You should protect your fused glass from winds though!

The Rainbow Butterfly measures approximately 10.5cm (4″) wide x 7cm (2.7″) high and comes ready to hang with Rainbow ribbon.

I use the best glass available from Spectrum System 96. Each sheet of glass is handcut by me. All items are designed and crafted by me in my home studio. The whole piece is fused and properly annealed in my kiln for over 12 hours, aiding strength and durability.

Despite my attempts at photographing my glass art, it is sometimes difficult to capture the gorgeous colours, the texture and the tactile nature. I try my best but customers have often said that the pieces in real life are just so much “more” than in the photo’s! Colours may vary, depending on your screen settings.
